Texas, Brazos County, Bryan and College Station use Strava Heat Maps

TXDOT licensed Strava data (near real time) for the entire state and is conducting training so our local municipalities can leverage this data.

Just last week the MPO sponsored our local governments to draw out the near and long range cycling routes that connect the cities and Brazos County. We used the 2016 Strava Heat map for that first pass.

While there are limitations (i.e. mostly represents recreational distance cyclists who use Strava) it is a larger set of geo-coded data than they could get any other way.

Have you checked out our “Routes” page?

We’ve been working on building up a collection of different bike routes for transportation and recreation, which you can view here. Have you used any of these routes, or do you have suggestions for other routes to add to the collection? Let us know!

Recent additions include the 2014 Rotary Ride route, and two alternative routes between downtown Bryan and Texas A&M University.

Time for the Wednesday ride!

It has been a warm, summery week this week. There’s a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms today, but it looks like there’s a greater probability for wild weather slightly later in the week. So come on out and join us for the intermediate-paced Wednesday ride. We’ll plan on the usual loop up and around Lake Bryan, for a total of ~34 miles altogether.

Details will be the same as last week. Do make note that we plan to stop at several points along the route to regroup, including a stop at the Smetana gas station to refuel.
